You have two options to add a web link.

  1. In a content area, learning module, or folder, select Build Content to access the menu.
  2. Select Web Link.
  3. Type a name and paste or type the URL. Be sure to use the http:// protocol, such as http://www.myinstitution.edu/.
  4. Type an optional description. This is helpful to give context to the link or provide instructions to students for how they should use the link or why it's an important resource.

This method using the content editor. Create your item or page in the designated content area, learning module, or folder.

  1. Select text or an object. For example, if you want to link to UMBC's homepage, then you would highlight or select UMBC.
    • Unless you select text or an object, the Insert/Edit Link and Remove Link icons are grayed out and unavailable.
  2. Click the Insert/Edit Link icon – it looks like a chain link – to add a new link or edit an existing link.
    • To remove a link, select the link and select the Remove Link icon. You can also link and remove links with the right-click menu.
  3. Type a name and paste or type the URL. Be sure to use the http:// protocol, such as http://www.myinstitution.edu/.
  4. In the Target menu, choose where to open the link. We recommend opening a link in a new window.
  5. Type a Title for the window or frame displayed when users select the link. Including a title helps ensure the link is accessible.
