Position: Sr. Instructional Designer

Description: Designs, develops, tests and evaluates educational products based on current, existing and emerging instructional design (ID) methodologies. This person will work as an Instructional Designer, Developer, and educational consultant to Central Nursing Education and Nurse Educators throughout the department of nursing. The position, understanding different instructional design methodologies, will blend these to create ID work flows that position JHH nursing as leaders in evidenced based learning. This position will be responsible to develop and author e-learning, instructor-led, blended learning programs, web-based and classroom learning products, and asynchronous learning content. This position is responsible for translating all forms of media play into learning products that teach and support nursing’s performance-based objectives. This position is responsible to develop evaluations using metrics to quantify the quality and effectiveness of learning and learning products. This position is responsible to design and apply tool and applications to manipulate graphic, media, and web content with the intent of developing learning products and materials.

Competencies:

Education Bachelor’s degree in Instruction Design or Education or equivalent earned experience. Master’s degree preferred in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology or Education.

Knowledge Adult learning theory, instructional design models including but not limited to ADDIE, Successive Approximation Model and Agile. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of rapid eLearning and course authoring tools and graphic development tools. An understanding of SCORM and Tin Can standards as it relates to online learning products and content management. Intermediate to advanced knowledge to design and conduct needs assessment, analysis, and performance improvement planning.

Skills Strong analysis, diagnostic, and performance improvement skills; ability to lead, coach, and consult on instructional design and development, ability to design, develop, and implement evidence-based evaluations; able to aggregate, analyze and interpret data to support decisions for ID process and learning product improvement. Expert ability for project management skills to estimate, manage and deliver project on time and on budget. Effective use of office automation software (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, MS Project); facilitates applying a variety of learning software development applications and enabling technologies, such as White Boards, MediaSite video technology and in developing creative ways to utilize these to enhance and create efficiencies in the evidence-based learning. Demonstrates an understanding of the role social learning plays in nursing education and how to qualify those learning experiences and exploit those experiences for maximum learning impact.

Preferred Skills: Creative , experienced with graphic editing software, Java knowledge, learning research experience, gap analysis, train the trainer, and mastery of two or more rapid e-learning development tools.

Certifications - ISD Certificate required...Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) preferred.
